About this page
This page is for users of the AB Compression mobile app and website, operated by Above and Beyond Compression Inc. (the developer shown on our Google Play and App Store listings). Use this page to permanently close your account and remove your personal data from our active systems.
If you only want to remove specific data and keep your account, please use the Request Data Deletion page instead.
Warning: Closing your account is permanent. You will lose access to your saved quotes, document history, and notification preferences. Re-creating an account with the same email later will not restore the previous data.
How to delete your account
- Email us at rmiller@abcomp.ca from the email address associated with your AB Compression account.
- In the email, include the words "Please delete my account" so we can route it to the correct workflow.
- We will verify your identity by replying to the email on file. This is to protect your account from being closed by someone else.
- Once verified, we will close your account within 30 days and email you confirmation once it's complete.
What gets deleted
When your account is closed, the following data is removed from our active systems:
- Account credentials — your email, password hash, and login tokens.
- Profile information — your name, contact details, and account preferences.
- Quote and order history — past quote requests and product enquiries (note: see "What we keep" below for transactional exceptions).
- Document access history — records of which technical documents you've downloaded.
- Push notification tokens — your device identifier is unsubscribed and removed.
- Web push subscriptions — your browser notification subscription is cancelled.
What we keep (and why)
Some data must be retained after account closure for legal, regulatory, or safety reasons:
- Transactional and accounting records — if you placed an order, Canadian tax law (CRA) requires us to keep invoice and shipping records for up to 6 years after the end of the tax year. These are kept in a restricted finance archive, separate from your closed account, and are not accessible from the live app.
- Anonymised analytics — aggregate usage statistics that cannot be tied back to you personally may be retained indefinitely.
- Security and abuse records — if your account was closed due to abuse, fraud, or violation of our terms, we retain the minimum information needed to prevent re-registration (e.g. a hash of your email) for up to 2 years.
- Backup snapshots — our daily encrypted backups will continue to contain your data for up to 14 days after deletion. Backups are not used for any operational purpose and are overwritten on the standard retention cycle.
