About this page
This page is for users of the AB Compression mobile app and website, operated by Above and Beyond Compression Inc. (the developer shown on our Google Play and App Store listings). Use this page to request that some or all of the personal data we hold about you be deleted, without closing your account.
If you'd like to close your account entirely, please use the Delete Account page instead.
How to request deletion
- Email us at rmiller@abcomp.ca from the email address associated with your AB Compression account.
- In the email, tell us which data you'd like removed (for example: quote history, push notification token, profile info). If you'd like everything removed, say "all data".
- We will verify your identity by replying to the email on file. This is to protect your account from someone else requesting your data be deleted.
- Once verified, we will process your request within 30 days and email you confirmation once it's complete.
What we can delete
You can request deletion of any of the following:
- Profile information — name, contact details, account preferences.
- Quote and order history — past quotes, requests, and product enquiries submitted through the app.
- Document downloads — records of which technical documents you've accessed.
- Push notification tokens — the device identifier we use to deliver notifications to your phone.
- Web push subscriptions — your browser-based notification subscription.
What we keep (and why)
Some data must be retained even after a deletion request, for legal, regulatory, or safety reasons:
- Transactional and accounting records — if you placed an order, Canadian tax law (CRA) requires us to keep invoice and shipping records for up to 6 years after the end of the tax year in which the transaction occurred. These are kept in a restricted finance archive, not in the live app.
- Anonymised analytics — aggregate usage statistics that cannot be tied back to you personally may be retained indefinitely.
- Security and abuse records — if you have been blocked for abuse, fraud, or violation of our terms, we retain the minimum information needed to enforce that block (e.g. account email hash) for up to 2 years.
- Backup snapshots — our daily encrypted backups will continue to contain your data for up to 14 days after deletion. Backups are not used for any operational purpose and are overwritten on the standard retention cycle.
If your account is also being deleted
The data-deletion process above is for users who want to keep their account but remove specific data. If you want to close your account entirely — which deletes your login as well — please use the Delete Account page.
